Origin

Dave is the generative pipeline that makes appearance insufficient proof. Small source samples can be sufficient for convincing synthetic likenesses. The pipeline is not a person, and the output is not evidence of an event.

Function

Evidence-Deniability Amplifier (Society-Scale)

• Input: Small source samples — video, audio — and a text prompt
• Process: Generation → lip-sync → temporal consistency → output
• Output: "Leaked footage." "Alibi video." "Evidence." "Denial."
• Byproduct: The real recording that can now be denied as generated.

Observed Behavior

The "liar's dividend": everything can be denied as AI-generated, so authentication becomes procedurally harder. Detection tools exist, but the detector/generator arms race means detector findings are contested. Industry watermarking proposals have been inconsistent in adoption.

Evidence now requires more provenance than appearance alone. The proceeding is asked to determine what the recording shows and whether the recording is a recording.

Distinction

The failure signature is the symmetry: the real and the generated are both deniable, and the burden of proof rises for both. The person who was never recorded and the person who was both face the same question.
