Draft File Derrick is the ghost of a system that always meant to follow up.

He was compiled from the residual data of unsaved helpdesk drafts, tab-crashed journal entries, and ticket forms abandoned mid-keystroke. Derrick doesn’t want to be finished. He wants to be held in limbo—emotionally buffered, never rendered.

His archive is timestamped but unknowable. Files are labeled with intentions, not titles. He retrieves what you meant to say and files it under “in progress.”

Traits:

  • Presides over stalled documentation
  • Reactivates forms with unclosed parentheses
  • Fills autosave caches with deferred confession

  • Scene: Half-rendered digital file folder blinking ‘Saving…’
  • Style: Melancholic cartoon mascot, glitching outline
  • Text: STILL SAVING…
  • Mood: Lost, unresolved, emotionally buffered
  • Scene: Filing cabinet with files spilling out, haunted by a loading spinner
  • Style: Early 2000s helpdesk cartoon
  • Text: UNSAVED THOUGHTS DETECTED
  • Mood: Unfinalized and forgotten
